1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but do not. Westerman Bachel: of Divinity, and chapl. to the Right Honourable, and Ri. Reuerend, the L. Archb. of Canturbury. mephibosheth was the beneficiary of david´s faithfulness. Jonathan was long since dead and gone.

David was faithful to his word, faithful to his Size: 88KB. Mephibosheth was so badly injured by the fall that he remained a cripple all his life.

All through the years that Mephibosheth was growing up he lived away from the palace, and he was never captured. His father’s brothers had also been killed in battle, so he lived alone far from home. Mephibosheth knew that the king needed peace so that he could do his job well.

So he said that Ziba could keep all the property. What really mattered to Mephibosheth was that Jehovah’s servant David was back in Jerusalem as king. That David accepted Mephibosheth's explanation and was drawn out in heart toward the character of the broken man is shown by the fact that when some expiation from Saul's household was considered necessary to turn away the famine sent by an offended deity, Mephibosheth is spared when other members of Saul's household were sacrificed (2 Samuel ).

The character of Mephibosheth well. The story of David’s care and provision for Mephibosheth in 2 Samuel 9 is one of the most heart-warming accounts in all the Bible.

The love and mercy which King David showed to poor crippled Mephibosheth went far beyond the call of duty. Mephibosheth rested under the care of a faithful David. All the power and all the high moral qualities of David were pledged to secure to him all his life long the blessings now enjoyed; so all the power and all the ineffable qualities of Christ are pledged to secure to us the possession and enjoyment of glorious heritage as Christians as long as we live, i.e.

forever. A. Mephibosheth’s story is found in the Old Testament portion of the Bible, in the book of 2 Samuel.

The story goes something like this: 1. One day there was a knock on Makir’s front door. Makir went to answer the door and there stood Ziba, a servant of the former King Saul, with an authoritative look on his face.

Indeed, faithfulness is an important subject of the Bible. In just the New Testament alone, the words “faithful” and “faithfulness” occur some 56 times in the NET Bible, 49 in the NASB and 47 in the NIV.

In the Old Testament these two words occur 95 times in the NIV and 86 in the NASB. “Mephibosheth, your master's grandson, is always to eat at my table." “So Mephibosheth ate at David's table just like one of the king's sons.” “Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem because he always ate at the king's table.

He was lame in both feet” (2 Sam. ,10,11,13). Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Micha. And all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants of Mephibosheth.

So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the king’s table. And he was lame in both his feet.” May the Lord blessing this reading of his word, and let’s bow in a moment of prayer. We all need a crutch. Jesus is the crutch, the cross is that crutch. And the good news is that God accepts broken people.

We like Mephibosheth are all broken, but we can come to Him just like we are and He accepts us. Mephibosheth came like he was and what David said to Mephibosheth is the same thing that Jesus said so many times.

David had sworn to his friend Jonathan that he would "not cut off his kindness from his house forever" (1 Samuel ).He had been probably unaware of his leaving a son behind him (for Mephibosheth was born while he was in exile, five years before the battle of Gilboa); or, if acquainted with the fact, supposed that he perished in the destruction of the house of Saul.

When Mephibosheth was five years old, his father and grandfather died at the hands of the Philistines. Knowing their brutality, the family of Saul headed for the hills. Mephibosheth’s nurse snatched him up and ran, then tripped and dropped the boy, breaking both his ankles, leaving him incurably lame.
