  "American Silk, Entrepreneurs and Artifacts" by Jacqueline Field, Marjorie Senechal and Madelyn Shaw and published by the Texas Tech University Press, has been chosen as the recipient of the Millia Davenport Publication Award sponsored by the Costume Society of America. “Nancy Rexford, a costume historian here in Massachusetts (and author of the book, Women’s Shoes in America), first recognized my affinity for historic costume. She encouraged me to join the Costume Society of America and to focus my career on costume.

Kathy Peiss is the Roy F. and Jeannette P. Nichols Professor of American History at Penn, where she teaches courses on modern American cultural history and the history of American sexuality, women, and gender. Her research has examined the history of working women; working-class and interracial sexuality; leisure, style, and popular culture; the beauty industry in the U.S. and .   New book by CSO member Tina Bates. A Cultural History of the Nurse’s Uniform by Christina Bates is the first and only in-depth analysis of the attire worn by the largest workforce in the health care system.
